Kristana Johnson, oboe

Kristana Johnson – is a freelance musician in the Washington, DC area. She was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University where she studied Oboe Performance and Physics. Upon graduating from the University of Illinois with Masters Degrees in Physics and Computer Science she moved to Maryland where she has worked as a Senior Systems Engineer. Ms. Johnson’s primary teachers include Jay Light and Russell McVay. She has also been coached in oboe and English horn master classes with Mark Weiger, Kathryn Greenbank, Timothy Hurtz, Timothy Clinch, Ray Duste and Patrick McFarland. Ms. Johnson currently performs with Ensemble à La Carte, the Montgomery County Symphony and the Washington Savoyards. She has appeared as a featured soloist with the Rockville Concert Band and performed with numerous local ensembles including the Trinity Chamber Orchestra and American Balalaika Symphony. Ms. Johnson is an alumni member of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.
